Day of Service

Thank you for your prayers and hard work in support of Bisons for Christ Day of Service. We appreciate those who cooked, brought supplies and brownies, worked in the kitchen and helped with numerous projects. We had approximately 2,000 students participate in over 120 projects throughout Searcy and White County. Many lives were touched in the name of Christ through these projects. There were tears and smiles as people were overwhelmed by the kindness of our students. An entire house was painted for a foster parent who works at the Sunshine School by the volleyball team and Theta Nu. Many students cleaned, cleared debris, cleaned up neglected lots and sweated for the Lord. Others made a difference in children’s lives by playing with them, teaching sports techniques or working with them on an essay. These are a few of the many acts of kindness, and many more we may never know.

One day history will come to a close, but eternity will go on forever. William Carey said, “The future is as bright as the promises of God.” I think we saw a glimpse of that yesterday.

In an event of this magnitude, there were things that went very well and others that gave us opportunities to improve and evaluate.

At the Beebe Housing Authority, TNT delivered care packages and washed windows for 26 units occupied by the elderly and disabled. Channel 4 covered this project and a link is provided below. It takes a little time for the video to load.

Harding recently provided a home for the White County Children’s Safety Center (WCCSC). Harding’s community practicum class cleaned and painted the house. Kathy Helpenstill and this class will continue to work with this group. Jenene Alexander, director of graduate counseling at Harding, also serves on the WCCSC board. Below is a note of appreciation from Kim Smith, program coordinator.

I wanted to thank you for the students that helped clean the future home for the White County Children’s Safety Center. It looks beautiful. I was there most of the time and the improvements are astounding. The paint that was selected by Tonya Leckie, and donated by Sherwin Williams, looks awesome with the roof. The City of Searcy brought the dumpster over and we filled it full, and I called to have them come and pick it up.

The students and staff that were there yesterday were awesome. The guys moved the heavy items, and the girls painted and scrubbed the walls and floors, there were a lot of dust bunnies that needed to be relocated. A great group of students did a lot of grunt work for a place that will serve children. Simply awesome!! Thanks for all the hard work, and creating such a day where the Bison’s for Christ can serve so many.

Not just here, but my son was able to go and get some instruction from the basketball team, and he loved it. Thanks for showing how Christ works through Christians.
