Fortress Learning Ministry
Mission Statement
It is the mission of this ministry to… Reflect the love of God and share Jesus with the youth of Searcy through spiritual, physical, social, emotional, and academic training.
It is about establishing a relationship and teaching, to develop children physically, socially, emotionally, spiritually, and academically. In order to accomplish this mission the Child Development Outreach ministry was established. Working through the Fortress Learning Lab, tutoring services are provided to children kindergarten through sixth grade at their apartment complex. The Fortress Learning Lab meets in the meeting room of the participating apartment complex and is staffed by members of the College Church of Christ and Harding University students. Currently two locations are being served on Tuesday and Thursday’s from 3:40 to 5:00 PM. (Meadow Lake Apartments & The Ridge at Searcy Apartments) An outline of the lab services includes; 3:40 to 4:00 Interactive story time and snacks, 4:00 to 4:45 homework assistance, 4:50 to 5:00 concluding team/esteem building activity. Special event activities are planned throughout the year to encourage active participation. When asked, what do you most like about Fortress Learning Lab one of the children said, “It’s like family and they will help you with homework.”
